COMMENTS: One of the best beginer rides in the area. The BLM has signed this area at intervals to teach ecology and MTB etiquette. The trail is short with little evevation gain. The singletrack provides a good intorduction to mountian biking. The Colorado River views are wonderful. Difficult to ride when wet!

STARTING POINT: From Grand Junction take I-70 to the Loma Exit (Exit #15). Cross over the interstate to the south and turn right on gravel road.  Just short of the weigh station, turn left, through the and follow the frontage road for about 1/2 mile until you come to a the parking area. Pass this parking area (Kokopelli) and turn left up a road and over the ridge. Continue until to the end the road to a parking area near a fence.

ELEVATION CHANGE: 290 feet

DISTANCE: 3.5 miles

APPROXIMATE RIDE TIME: 1-2 hours

DIFFICULTY: Easy with few hills and minimal technical sections

RIDE DESCRIPTION: From the parking area, the trail is very well signed. Start though the fence to the west. The ride is good in either direction. It is described here in the clockwise direction. Turn left and follow a well worn singletrack. There are several good overlooks. Cross a double track at mile 2.0. The trail will bring you back to the parking area at mile 3.5.
